Director: Rachael
Rachael has a Bachelor of Science in Education from Wheelock College, and both a Master of Education and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Education from the University of Massachusetts. She was hired as Director of HFCDC in 2001. Rachael has over 25 years of experience in education, providing high quality care for a wide variety of clients in Washington, California, and Massachusetts. Rachael's strengths include designing and implementing innovative curriculum, excellent organization, and communication skills.
Teacher: Marise ("Mara")
Mara has an Associate in Arts degree in Arts and Science, and is working towards a degree in early childhood education through University Without Walls. Mara is a native of Brazil, where she graduated from the Godofredo Sheneider High School with a specialization in elementary education and later earned a certificate to teach math to 5th and 6th graders. Before moving to the United States, Mara worked as a teacher in a public elementary school. She is bilingual, speaking Portuguese (primary) and English. Mara's favorite thing to do is to play outside games with small groups of children.
Teacher: Aline
Aline currently is enrolled as an undergraduate student at the University of Massachusetts. She has worked at HFCDC since January 2006; first as a teaching assistant, then upon becoming certified by the Department of Early Education and Care in January 2008, she was promoted to a teacher position. She is bilingual, speaking Portuguese (primary) and English. Aline enjoys doing Arts and Crafts with the kids.
Teacher: Grinnan
Grinnan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Her previous child care experience includes providing child care at both a private home and center-based facility in western Massachusetts. Grinnan's favorite thing to do with the kids is art projects - the messier the better!
Teacher: Elizabeth ("Bizzy")
Elizabeth has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Before coming to work at HFCDC in January of 2007, Elizabeth worked as both a shift manager and residential counselor at the Northeast Center for Youth and Families in Easthampton, Massachusetts. Since she began working at the Center, Elizabeth has taken a continuing education class in Child Development. Bizzy's favorite thing to do with the children is to read them their favorite books.
Teaching Assistant: Allison
Allison is currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at the University of Massachusetts. She is working towards a Theater degree, with a minor in Education. Allison began working at HFCDC in May 2008. She has previous experience teaching children, as both a child care assistant and a martial arts instructor. Allison's favorite thing to do with the kids is singing and dancing along to toddler classic hits.
